Service Description

This parent support group will take place weekly at Young Parents United in partnership with New Choices Prevention. This program is ongoing and provides a safe space for skill building, creativity, fun, parents and child(ren), and quality family time together. Weekly topics can be parent driven based on a specific topic that they need to address or the facilitator can select a topic. There are no required number of group sessions, each week will be a different topic - so sign up for any number of weeks Some of the things we work on during our time together:  Reaffirm what youth and adults need from each other  Learn and practice strategies for successful family communication, including family problem solving skills and strategies  How to respectfully work together to set family rules, consequences, and rewards  Discovering the power of compliments and positive communication to create respectful, loving relationships  Strengthen family bonds  Managing parent and youth stress  Increase skills to positively cope with emotions individually as well as together  The importance of gratitude
